Where to find British style switched plugs in the US?
In Britain, it is standard to have switches on outlets that allow you to turn on and off current to the plug. This allows one to save electrical draw without having to unplug replug devices constantly... thing is, here in the US, I can't seem to find them. I found one very expensive overkill example... Does anyone know what they are called or where to get them here? I know there are the red black circuit breaker plugs, but those are not nearly as easy to switch on and off as needed as the buttons are recessed.
We Americans are not as conservative as our cousins across the pond, hence, you're probably not going to find exactly what you're looking for.
Probably the closest you'll find here would be one of the multi-tap strips that are switched.
Until the economy's downturn we were more worried about our creature comforts than conservation.
