Which Marshall half stack should I buy?
I know I want a Marshall so don't try to convince me to get any other brand. Anyways, here's my question, I want to get a Marshall halfstack but I am stuck between two of them. The Marshall MG100HDFX/MG412 Half Stack with Digital Effects and the Marshall JCM 2000 Triple Super Lead 100 and 1960A Package. I am leaning toward the JCM because of the reviews I've read on Musicians Friend about the two amps. However I want to know if the MG is really as bad as most people say it is cause I don't want to spend $1,600 more if I don't have to. So please tell me which one is better or if the MG is really that bad sounding.
The Marshall JCM 2000 Triple Super Lead 100 and 1960A Package is definately a bet amp. The tone and sound is a lot better because as you probhably know it is a all tube amp. It is a professional amp and unless you are giging you will never really need that powerful an amp. The MG100 is a decent amp for the money, but you are not going to get even close to the sound of the super lead. The effects are pretty cheesy and the cooling fan is prone to burn out quickly. Remember when it comes to amps you get what you pay for, and you cant ever beat the tube sound with a solid state amp. If money is not an option I would recomend a Mesa Boogie triple rectifier or a Bogner Ubershall, they are both around $2500 and amazing.
