Comb Amp

Line 6 Spider III Guitar Amp Question?

I have a Line-6 Spider III Stereo Combo amp and a Mesa 2x12 extension cabinet that is mono. Whenever I plug in the extension cab, sound only comes out of one side of the LIne-6 Combo, Left or Right depending on what output I plug the extension cabinet into.

Is there a reason why I can't use a mono extension cabinet without killing sound to one side of the combo amp?

Please help. The Mesa Cabinet is really nice and want to use it but not if plugging it in will only give me 1 speaker of the comb
